The course involves an evening theory session and a half day practical session. The course is primarily aimed at those who have at least one season of experience with tracking and are willing to get involved (or get back involved) in helping to put on tracking trials. The course will assume some knowledge of tracking training and the tracking rules. However\, everyone is welcome\, particularly at the theory session\, so if you are new to tracking and super keen you are welcome to get involved. \n  \nTopics to be covered include: \n– planning tracks involving 1 or more corners \n– managing tracks in different terrain \n– preparing maps of tracks \n– marking tracks \n– laying and stewarding blind tracks \n– keeping records of tracks including using apps. \n  \nThe course will help you build skills in planning\, laying and recording tracks for dogs at TD 1 and above and give you the foundation of the skills needed for stewarding at a tracking trial. \n  \nYou will need a copy of the ANKC tracking rules (and to have read them!) – they are available on the ANKC website: http://ankc.org.au/media/1097/295832tracking_2014.pdf. \n  \nThe course is free but you do need to RSVP. Please let Julie Cutts know by 15 April 2018 if you are planning to attend. \n  \nThe theory will be on Wednesday 18 April 6.30-9.30pm at the Dogs ACT rooms\, Northbourne Ave\, Mitchell (Julie can give you directions if you need them). \n  \nThe practical will be on Sunday 22 April – location to be advised. \n  \nYou will need to attend the theory evening to understand what is going on at the practical session. If anyone from out of Canberra wants to Skype in for the theory session we will do our best to make that work. If there is time and energy left after the practical session I am happy to help people problem-solve any tracking issues they are having with their own dogs.
