Classes in Championship Shows and Parades …

1 & 1a     – BABY PUPPY –  (3 months and under 6months)

2 & 2a     – MINOR PUPPY – (6 months and not exceeding 9months)

3 & 3a     – PUPPY – (6 months and not exceeding 12months)

4 & 4a     – JUNIOR – (9 months and not exceeding 18months)

5 & 5a     – INTERMEDIATE – (18 months and not exceeding 36 months)

6 & 6a     – NOVICE – (6 months and over and not won a first prize at any Open Parade/Open Show or Championship Show)

7 & 7a     – GRADUATE – (6 months and over and not won a challenge certificate)

8 & 8a     – LIMIT – (over 12 months and not a Champion, or have gained sufficient points to qualify as a Champion)

9 & 9a      – ACT BRED – (6 months and over and whelped in ACT)

10 & 10a  – AUSTRALIAN BRED – (6 months and over and whelped in Australia)

11 & 11a    – OPEN – (6 months and over)

11 & 11a  – OPEN – (6 months and over)

15            –  PUPPY NEUTER – for neuter dogs and bitches aged six and under twelve months.

16            – JUNIOR NEUTER – for neuter dogs and bitches aged nine and under eighteen months.

17            – INTERMEDIATE NEUTER – for neuter dogs and bitches aged eighteen and under thirty-six months.

18            – OPEN NEUTER – For neuter dogs and bitches aged six months and over.

 

Rules …

  • No dog under six (6) months may compete with any dog six (6) months of age or over or be eligible for any prize or award other than those restricted to Baby Puppies.
  • No dog or bitch may be awarded a Best of Breed at a Championship show unless it has already been awarded a challenge certificate at that Show.
  • With the exception of veteran classes , all exhibits entered in sweepstakes or ACTCA Guineas heats must be entered in at least one breed class.
  • Veteran – Separate classes may be offered for Veterans at fixtures –
    (a)  Seven (7) years and under Ten (10)years.
    (b)  Ten (10) years and over.
  • Desexed exhibits may compete in Veteran Class.
    (Note – A veteran must be entered and exhibited in at least an ordinary class before it can compete for a Challenge Certificate, or any Special Prize which is not specifically awarded for the Veteran Class).
  • A Desexed dogs and bitches six (6) months of age and over may compete in a Neutered Classes  at all shows at the option of the Club.
  • Where exhibits are entered by exhibitors in the wrong class at Championship Shows the exhibit must be transferred to Open Class, except where the exhibit is only eligible for Baby Puppy in which case it shall be transferred to Baby Puppy.
  • Where exhibits are entered by exhibitors in the wrong class at Championship Shows and are judged in the wrong class, the exhibit must be disqualified.
  • Where a judge does not award a first place in a class then the judge shall “no award” the exhibit or exhibits.

  • Group 1 -Toys
  • Group 2 – Sporting Terriers
  • Group 3 -Gundogs
  • Group 4 -Hounds
  • Group 5 – Working Dogs
  • Group 6 -Utility
  • Group 7 – Non-Sporting

Judging procedure for challenge awards, Best of Breed, Best in Group, etc is to be as follows:

  • Breed Classes:
  • Dog Classes
  • Dog Challenge
  • Reserve Dog Challenge
  • Bitch Classes
  • Bitch Challenge
  • Reserve Bitch Challenge
  • Best of Breed
  • Runner up to Best of Breed
  • Best Baby Puppy in Breed, Best Minor Puppy etc through classes in order.
  • Group Specials:
  • Best in Group
  • Runner up to Best in Group
  • Best Baby Puppy in Group, Best Minor Puppy etc though classes in order
  • Show Specials:
  • Best in Show
  • Runner up to Best in Show
  • Best Baby Puppy in Show, Best Minor Puppy etc through classes in order.

Any exhibit which is present at a Show or Parade at which it has been entered which does not enter the ring when called for judging shall forfeit any awards including challenge certificates already made at that event in respect of that exhibit.

A dog may only be withdrawn from competing in exceptional circumstances with the concurrence of the show secretary after consultation with the ACTCA Representative or with the approval of the judge in the ring.  A report on any such withdrawal or refusal shall be made by the ACTCA Representative to the Council.

If the exhibit is a challenge winner the ACTCA Council will then determine if the Reserve Challenge winner will receive the award.

If the exhibit is the Best of Breed winner no representative of the breed will be admitted to the Best in Group judging.
